Job summary

CPG in Ashburn, VA is seeking a Safety Specialist II to identify hazards, develop safety protocols, and ensure compliance with regulations across data center operations.

Ideal candidate has 1–3 years EHS experience, OSHA NFPA 70E knowledge, and strong communication. Responsibilities include policy verification, risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training. Collaborative, proactive role with emphasis on staying current with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 1-3 years of progressive experience in EHS in general industry, preferably with data center construction, maintenance, service and facility operations experience.
• Working knowledge of U.S Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and standards and other non-regulatory safety standards applicable to the location.
• Knowledgeable with NFPA 70E, DOT, and environmental compliance is a plus.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and can follow reporting processes. Communicate effectively with client safety team regarding incidents and other action items.
• Experience with JHAs, SOPs, MOPS, technical reports and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Verify safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all company, local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct project management & regular risk assessments, inspections, and audits to identify potential safety hazards and risks for construction, battery maintenance/installation, HVAC, data center facility operations, commissioning, and other departments.
• Investigate incidents to determine their root causes and develop corrective action plans.
• Building and giving safety training to employees.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure that safety issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
• Monitor and review safety performance metrics to identify trend areas for improvement.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest safety regulations and industry best practices.
