Job summary

Micron Technology in Colorado is seeking a Systems Performance Engineering Intern to join the Data Center Workload Engineering team. You will partner with experienced engineers, run real-world workloads on enterprise-class systems, and deliver measurable performance improvements.

Responsibilities include benchmarking, configuring workloads (AI inference, databases, virtualization), collecting telemetry, and developing Python automation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in CS/CE/EE with expected graduation after internship.
• Coursework in operating systems, computer architecture, systems programming, or closely related subjects.
• Experience working in Linux environments, including command-line tools, file systems, processes, and basic system administration.
• Programming experience in Python, C, C++, or a comparable programming language.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, including experience using AI Assisted coding tools to support software development and technical productivity.

Responsibilities

• Execute performance validation and benchmarking activities on enterprise servers, GPU-accelerated systems, and data center storage platforms using established test methodologies.
• Configure and run customer-representative workloads, including AI inference, databases, virtualization, checkpointing, or object storage environments.
• Collect, validate, and analyze system and device telemetry to ensure data quality, repeatability, and actionable performance insights.
• Develop or enhance Python-based automation tools for test setup, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Investigate and present findings on a defined performance engineering project, contributing code, documentation, and results back to the team.
