About the Role
We are hiring motivated, early-career individuals to begin their hands‑on technical career as Engineering Operations Technicians (EOTs) through our Elevate Program, a paid training and development pathway. Through Elevate, candidates who do not have direct data center or technical experience will receive structured training alongside on‑the‑job learning in a data center environment. No prior data center experience required.
As a member of the Engineering and Facilities team, you will support the operation and maintenance of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure, follow detailed safety and operating procedures, and help maintain world‑class facility reliability. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with curiosity for technology, a strong work ethic, and interest in electrical, mechanical, or facilities systems.
Qualifications
- Highly motivated and eager to join a career in Data Center Engineering Operations, demonstrating positive attitude and technical aptitude to learn and grow.
- Ability to work four 10‑hour rotating day shifts (3‑day weekend) that could include holidays.
- Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently on a normal basis. 40+ pounds for group lifts.
- Able to work and perform construction tasks from ladders.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Word) and web‑based operational tools.
- Highly proficient in written and spoken English.
Elevate Training Pathway
Step 1: Begin on the Rack Install Team + On‑the‑Job EOT Training
- All new hires begin their Elevate journey on the Rack Install Team, where they learn foundational data center skills.
- Support rack installations and rack power‑up activities including rack/stack, build‑out, power‑up, and commissioning of data center equipment.
- Daily structured learning (2 hours/day) via Amatrol + AWS virtual learning modules.
Step 2: Online Assessment
- After 6 months, consultants become eligible for an online readiness assessment for conversion to a full‑time AWS EOT. Those who do not pass may retake it after 3–4 additional months of training and shadowing.
Key Responsibilities
Safety:
- Uphold top safety standards.
- Support safety initiatives and mitigation planning.
Engineering & Facility Operations:
- Gain competence with UPS, switchgears, generators, chillers, CRAC/CRAH. and BMS systems.
- Conduct rounds, log readings, troubleshoot within SLAs.
Data Center Build & Commissioning:
- Support design, build‑out, and commissioning activities.
- Maintain accurate asset and inventory tracking.
- 4‑day work week with rotating 10‑hour day shifts (6:00 AM–4:30 PM).
- Sunday–Wednesday (front half) and Wednesday–Saturday (back half).
- Full‑time, 40 hours per week, with overtime pay for holidays worked.
