Job summary

Google Council Bluffs IA is seeking a Data Center Operations Manager, Hardware Operations. You will lead Data Center Technicians, oversee server hardware, Linux clusters, and networking gear to ensure high availability and efficient operations.

With 8+ years in infrastructure and 5+ years in leadership, you will drive site plans, partner with PMs, and ensure safety and compliance while meeting budgets and timelines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware.
• 5 years of experience managing technical, vendor, contract management, or delivery teams.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of individuals; set and communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals.
• Partner with teams to meet goals and stakeholders to manage facility activities and set/implement short- and long-term strategies.
• Maintain, monitor, and execute security and operational procedures and track/analyze trends to identify opportunities for improvements ensuring alignment with organizational policies.
• Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues.
• Support and contribute to the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other compliance programs and initiatives in collaboration with other teams to ensure environmental and safety incidents are investigated, resolved, and reported.

As a Hardware Operations Manager at Google, you will lead Data Center Technicians managing the physical infrastructure behind Google’s search technology. Your team installs, configures, and maintains server hardware, Linux clusters, and complex networking components like routers and switches, overseeing high-level installations and troubleshooting.

In this role, you will manage critical initiatives across security, maintenance, and networking. Using data analytics, you will identify trends and drive improvements to tools and procedures. You will act as the primary escalation point for your sites, quantifying and resolving systemic issues. You will collaborate with Program Managers and Data Center Operations to provide strategic input on site planning, process changes, and task orders. Furthermore, you will manage projects to ensure they meet budget, timeline, and resource requirements, and resource needs.

US: $138000 - $200000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
