Job summary

Colovore, a leader in high-density AI colocation, seeks a hands-on Engineer, Data Center Operations in Santa Clara to support daily operations in a high‑density facility. You’ll perform preventive maintenance, assist with deployments, monitor infrastructure systems, and ensure uptime across power, cooling, and IT equipment.

The role requires safety focus and collaboration with Senior Engineers. The ideal candidate is technically curious, reliable, and eager to grow with a fast-paced operations

Qualifications

  • 2–4+ years in data center, critical facility, telecommunications or related operations.
  • Hands-on with cabling, equipment installation, preventive maintenance, or infrastructure support.
  • Familiarity with power, cooling, and IT systems in production environments.
  • Experience with ticketing, monitoring tools or facility management platforms.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and support 24/7 operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day tasks including equipment installation, rack/stacking, cabling, labeling, and rounds.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and assist in corrective maintenance under senior guidance.
  • Monitor and operate BMS, CMMS, and ticketing platforms; follow SOPs and safety processes.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and IT incidents and escalate as needed.
  • Provide remote hands support for customers and document changes and incidents.

Role Overview

We'reseekinga hands‑on, detail-oriented Engineer, Data Center Operations to support daily operations in a high-density, mission-critical environment. This roleis responsible forperforming preventative maintenance, supporting customer deployments,monitoringinfrastructure systems, and ensuring uptime across electrical, mechanical, and IT equipment. The ideal candidate is technically curious, reliable, safety-focused, and eager to grow within a fast-paced operations team. You will work closely with senior engineers tomaintainsite performance, resolve issues, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Support & Daily Activities
  • Perform day-to-day tasks including equipment installation,rackingand stacking, cabling, labeling, and facility rounds.
  • Execute preventative maintenance procedures and support corrective maintenance under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Assistin monitoring and operating Building Management Systems (BMS), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and ticketing platforms.
  • Follow SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs to ensure safe and consistent work execution.
  • Monitor power, cooling, and IT systems to ensure stable performance andidentifypotential issues early.
  • Assistin troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and IT infrastructure incidents.
  • Escalate equipment or system issues to senior engineers ina timely, concise, andaccuratemanner.
Customer Support & Remote Hands Services
  • Provide professional andtimelyremote hands support, including power cycling, cable tracing, hardware swaps, and visual inspections.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams to ensure service requests are handled correctly.
  • Contribute to a positive customer experience through responsiveness, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Documentation, Compliance & Reporting
  • Maintainaccuratelogs, checklists, and records for audits, compliance, and operational transparency.
  • Document changes, maintenance activities, and incidents following established processes.
  • Support asset tracking, inventory management, and spare parts organization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work alongside Senior Engineers, Facilities, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to support operational readiness and continuous improvements.
  • Participate in project-based tasks such as new deployments, infrastructure upgrades, and capacity expansions.
  • Provide input on workflow improvements and safety practices.
Key Skills
  • Solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, or IT infrastructure fundamentals (power distribution, cooling, cabling, server hardware).
  • Ability to follow technical procedures, safety protocols, and step-by-step documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and eagerness to learn complex systems in high-density environments.
  • Experience using or willingness to learn BMS, CMMS,monitoringplatforms, and ticketing tools.
  • Detail-oriented approach to inspections, documentation, and compliance tasks.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for internal updates and customer interactions.
  • Strong teamwork mentality with the ability to take direction and collaborate effectively.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, mission-critical environments where accuracy and safety are essential.
Required Experience
  • 2-4+ years of data center, critical facility, telecommunications, or related technical operations experience.
  • Hands-on experience with cabling, equipment installation, preventative maintenance, or infrastructure support.
  • Familiarity with power, cooling, and IT systems in a production environment.
  • Experience using ticketing systems,monitoringtools, or facility management platforms preferred.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, respond to incidents, and support 24/7 operations as needed.
