Data Center Technician
Location: Mountain View
Reports To: Director, Data Center Site Services
Position Overview
The Data Center Technician supports the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure systems within a mission‑critical data center environment. This role assists in maintaining uptime, monitoring system health, and executing approved procedures across electrical and mechanical systems. This position focuses on hands‑on operational support, preventive maintenance, documentation accuracy, and adherence to established safety and compliance standards. Work is performed under established procedures and direction from site leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Systems Support
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, PDUs, generators, fuel cells, and BESS (as applicable)
- Support switching activities under approved MOPs and supervision
- Record system readings and report abnormalities
- Assist with redundancy checks following maintenance
Mechanical & Cooling Support
- Support operation of critical cooling systems (air and liquid‑based)
- Assist with monitoring rear‑door heat exchangers, CDUs, and direct‑to‑chip cooling systems
- Record temperature, environmental, and flow data
- Perform routine inspections of liquid cooling components and report abnormalities
- Support leak detection and containment procedures
Documentation & Change Support
- Execute approved MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs under supervision
- Maintain accurate logs, maintenance records, and inspection checklists
- Assist with vendor coordination and site access processes
- Support post‑maintenance documentation updates
Safety, Security & Compliance
- Follow LOTO and electrical safety procedures
- Support site access control and escort vendors as needed
- Maintain compliance with site policies and audit requirements
- Participate in emergency response drills and exercises
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in data center, critical facilities, or industrial operations preferred
- Basic understanding of electrical and/or mechanical systems
- Exposure to liquid cooling environments (rear‑door or direct‑to‑chip) a plus
- Familiarity with structured procedures and documentation processes
- Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational environment
- Technical certification or trade background preferred
