Job summary

Alston Construction, a nationwide general contractor, seeks an MEP Estimator to support the estimating phase of Data Center projects. The role focuses on thorough, accurate, and competitive cost estimates to win profitable projects.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of GC estimating experience, strong MEP system knowledge, and is skilled in value engineering and bid management to coordinate with design professionals and the project team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience successfully estimating conceptual and hard bid construction projects for a general contractor.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in specialized MEP estimating is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and familiarity with site conditions and construction phases.
• Design-build experience on relevant project types.
• Experience in value-engineering.

Responsibilities

• Prepare thorough, accurate and competitive cost estimates through all design phases.
• Prepare cost estimates and scopes of work for MEP systems from concept to construction documents.
• Identify value-engineered alternatives in construction methods, materials, schedule, and design.
• Review drawings and manage bid and preconstruction meetings.
• Develop and maintain bid packages and lead bid solicitations and RFPs.
• Takeoffs for multiple trades to minimize cost risks.
• Interface with clients, design professionals, and project team on feasibility and data.
