Job summary

KALCON is seeking an experienced Mechanical Subject Matter Expert to lead a large-scale AI data center program in the Texas Panhandle. You will oversee mechanical systems from design review through commissioning and turnover, providing technical leadership and contractor oversight throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in construction management focused on mechanical systems in hyperscale/data center projects.
• Experience with chillers, cooling towers, pumps, glycol systems and containment.
• Knowledge of liquid-cooled IT infrastructure and CDU/DTIC systems.
• Experience with FAT through IST commissioning.
• Experience developing load bank strategies (resistive & liquid).
• Ability to review design packages, submittals, drawings, and testing reports.
• Strong field presence and quality/constructability evaluation.
• Ability to review CPM schedules for risks to milestones.
• Excellent communication with project teams, contractors, and executives.
• Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Office.
• Willingness to travel to project sites for extended commissioning phases.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the mechanical SME guiding all scope of work.
• Ensure design intent and site requirements are maintained through procurement, installation, testing, and turnover.
• Review design packages, submittals, drawings, and field changes for gaps and risks.
• Support equipment selection, procurement planning, FAT, and long-lead equipment strategies.
• Provide recommendations on RFIs, field issues, and constructability concerns.
• Define commissioning strategies, prerequisites, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop phased data hall turnover plans with stakeholders.
• Establish load bank testing strategies and logistics.
• Monitor progress, attend critical tests, and validate results.
• Support startup, systems turnover, and warranty transition.
