Job summary

Wesco International, Inc. is seeking a Lead Mechanic - Data Center to manage mechanical systems and mission-critical equipment in a high-performance data center.

You will coordinate field activities, supervise maintenance, and troubleshoot complex issues to ensure uptime. You will work with vendors, support emergency response, and contribute to long-term planning for reliability and cost efficiency, while maintaining safety standards and operational procedures.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical degree or specialized training in mechanical or HVAC systems.
• Minimum 3+ years as a Mechanical Lead in supervision.
• Knowledge of construction planning and building systems.
• Familiarity with building automation systems.
• Strong planning and scheduling proficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• People skills with negotiation ability.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Assist with on-site field coordination and supervision for data center operations.
• Support operation and maintenance of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems.
• Serve as on-site SME for mechanical/HVAC systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Manage and support preventative and emergency maintenance programs, including scheduling and oversight.
• Perform and oversee routine inspections and maintenance tasks.
• Self-perform mechanical/HVAC preventive maintenance activities and tests.
• Oversee vendors and subcontractors to ensure proper installation and services.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and coordinate resolutions to maintain uptime.
• Monitor system performance and report discrepancies to operations teams.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of SOPs, MOPs, ERPs, and safety procedures.
• Support inventory management and life cycle replacement strategies.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
