Job summary

Applied Digital is seeking a Data Center Mechanical Engineer – Operational SME to oversee and optimize the performance, reliability, and efficiency of our data center mechanical infrastructure. The role requires deep expertise in chiller systems, evaporative cooling, CDU cooling, water distribution and treatment, emergency diesel generators, and fire suppression.

Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
7+ years of data center mechanical engineering or facility operations experience
Ability to interpret blueprints/CAD drawings
Experience with mechanical plans, specs, and equipment shop drawings
Knowledge of trend charts and refrigeration cycles
Ability to diagnose complex mechanical failures in real-time
Experience in cross-functional, collaborative environments

Responsibilities

Serve as onsite technical resource for mechanical infrastructure with hands-on focus.
Coordinate cross-functional work with local and global teams.
Contribute to the site's mechanical safety program.
Improve electrical system resiliency and scalability with design/ops teams.
Develop and maintain mechanical procedures (EOPs, SOPs, MOPs, drills).
Plan and authorize mechanical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities.
Oversee mechanical system configurations and upgrades.
Provide QA/QC oversight of construction and maintenance.
