Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic with substantial field experience in commercial HVAC systems, including piping, plumbing and equipment service. You will troubleshoot, repair, and install extensive systems, travel with the team, and meet safety and training requirements.

The role emphasizes customer-facing service, quotes, and collaboration with Journeymen, with a pay range governed by the local labor agreement and a focus on safety and career development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight (8) years commercial/industrial mechanical troubleshooting in HVAC.
• Able to install complete systems including chillers, rooftops, plumbing and supporting mechanicals.
• Must maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
• Possess Universal EPA refrigerants license and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Provide quotes to customers and participate in Service Plus Rewards program.
• Troubleshoot and repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers and ammonia/hydrocarbon components.
• Collaborate with Journeymen and Servicemen to service branch customers.

How will you do it

We are looking for skilled HVAC Mechanics who have practical work experience in their trade (HVAC piping, plumbing, pipefitting and /or mechanical equipment service industry). Mechanics must have practical work experience in light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment. May be required to satisfactorily pass an examination to identify special skills. Scope of work shall be limited to commercial HVACR service. Servicemen may partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers and ammonia systems. Perform maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems. Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for system trouble shooting, repair and aftermarket services for this fast-growing business.
• Minimum of Eight (8) years Commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry and Industrial Petrochemical, or Data Center vertical environments. This includes Rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing.
• Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers and/or ammonia / hydrocarbon system components.
• Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
• Able to install complete systems, (Chillers, Rooftop Units, plumbing and all supporting mechanical systems).
• Mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, laser etc. of pumps, fans, Compressors.
• Able to use vibration equipment to trouble shoot drivelines.
• Travel maybe required 10% to 20% to support Branch Customers activities, trouble shooting, installation and repair.
• You will be required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.

• Prioritize safety in all forms Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver’s license.
• Ready to Roll - Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time as part of the Travel Team is required.
