Job summary

Lightedge is seeking a Data Center Manager in Chaska, Minnesota, responsible for managing all aspects of our datacenters and supporting systems. You will work with senior management and contractors to ensure industry standards and performance efficiencies are met.

Job description

The Data Center Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining all aspects of our datacenters along with supporting all ancillary systems that support the datacenter. He/she will plan and implement the design of cage and rack space to maximize the use of available datacenter space to improve production efficiencies. The Facilities Manager will work directly with senior management, vendors, and contractors to ensure the highest level of industry standards, availability, security and efficiencies are met at all times. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in facilities engineering and or 6-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Extensive experience with a variety of the facilities concepts, practices, and procedures is required as well. The employee will be a member of the Operations team and will report directly to VP of Data Center Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the functioning of building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, and security.
  • Manage the maintenance schedule and oversee contractors.
  • Lead and mentor staff members setting goals and objectives for the facilities group to meet organizational targets.
  • Work with project managers, systems engineers, and customers to facilitate new network or client service installations
  • Conduct and document quality facility inspections to ensure we are in line with our compliance certifications.
  • Develop and manage staffing plans and operational budgets. Track expenses and identify cost-savings/efficiency initiatives.
  • Reviews and recommends changes to current best practices to maintain availability/uptime of all 24X7 facilities mission critical operations and infrastructure.
  • Manage and review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are met.
  • Reviews Facilities change controls submitted by team to ensure complete and accurate MOP’s are inserted in all change control activity. Ensure compliance with change and incident management procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Comprehend, analyze and interpret complex project documents, including AutoCAD, Visio and PDF documents.
  • Extensive experience with the installation of cable ladder infrastructure, racks, and private cage suites.
  • Comprehensive experience with day-to-day standard maintenance activities in datacenters.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with electrical systems including generators, automatic transfer switches, UPS’s, System PDU’s, Rack PDU’s 120/208V, Breaker panels.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with datacenter cooling systems and airflow management techniques, including raised floor and non-raised floor environments
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize activities in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a range of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within the datacenter environment.
