In this pivotal role you will be the guardian of Amazon’s data center operations, driving reliability and performance while optimizing operational efficiency across complex technical environments.

Data Center Facility Manager acts as Amazon’s front line for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. You will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission‑critical data center facility equipment including electrical support equipment such as stand‑by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3‑phase electrical systems (switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, wet‑cell batteries), mechanical equipment (CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water chemical systems, air handlers, pumps, motors), and additional support equipment such as fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure, maintaining high availability and performance while ensuring that all work performed within the site meets high quality standards and service level agreements.
• Manage on‑site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring all work is performed according to established practices, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Drive a safety and security culture and compliance within the team.
• Hire, coach, and promote team members, managing career development and performance.
• Promote a healthy team culture and peak morale.
• Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.
• Engage in improvement projects, often requiring coordination with various support teams, and drive them from conception to completion.
• Act as an escalation point for all facilities‑related issues, overseeing operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, and building monitoring systems.
• Utilize root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem‑solving skills.
• Respond to out‑of‑hours emergency calls.
• Support more than one location/site as needed.
• Assist in the build‑out of new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency.
• Use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other basic administrative tools for day‑to‑day tasks.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
• 5+ years of managerial or supervisory experience with 8‑10 or more direct reports.
• 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical and mechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of critical data center electrical and mechanical systems (feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, CRAC units).
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent, or 7+ years of experience in a data center or other mission‑critical environment with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.
• Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work in an environment that involves walking, stooping, bending, and climbing to access equipment.
• Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.

Compensation

USA, NV, Sparks – $129,200.00 – $193,000.00 USD annually.
