Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) in Ohio is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician A to operate, maintain, and repair data center infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related building systems.

Under limited supervision, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, manage CMMS records, and coordinate with contractors. The role requires a valid driver's license, on-call rotation, and willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years experience as Building Maintenance Technician A or 5+ years in HVAC/electrical.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
• Willing to undergo on-call rotation, overtime, and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and building mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, install and operate facility equipment per manuals and codes.
• Identify root causes and ensure quick repairs; monitor and respond to abnormal conditions.
• Maintain records and submit reports; ensure CMMS data accuracy.
