Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a Critical Facilities HVAC Technician to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and mechanical systems that support mission-critical data center operations. This position provides after-hours coverage to ensure system reliability, rapid alarm response, and smooth handoffs between shifts, working with site Operations, Controls, and Electrical teams.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience; data center or mission-critical experience preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills; ability to work independently during off-peak hours.
• High school diploma or equiv.; technical or trade school preferred.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems (CRAH/CRAC, AHUs, condensers, pumps, VFDs).
• Monitor system performance, BAS/BMS alarms, trends, and environmental conditions during second shift.
• Respond to HVAC alarms and service requests; escalate as required.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and basic controls issues affecting HVAC performance.
• Document all work in the CMMS, including findings and recommendations; ensure proper turnover between shifts.
• Escort and oversee third-party vendors performing after-hours maintenance or repairs.
