Job summary

Cologix, Inc. in Ashburn, VA, is seeking a Generator Technician to ensure backup power systems are reliable and ready for rapid engagement. The role includes performing routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting to support 24/7 mission-critical uptime.

You will manage fuel infrastructure, assist with system integration of UPS/ATS, and maintain detailed service records. Candidates should have 2+ years of generator maintenance experience and be able to work varying shifts.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on generator maintenance experience, preferably in mission-critical environments
• Solid understanding of diesel-powered generators and related equipment (Rolls-Royce MTU systems preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, manuals, and mechanical blueprints
• Familiarity with ATS, switchgear, and safety control panels in data center infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections and preventive maintenance on generators, fuel polishers, and related equipment
• Manage fuel deliveries, vendor coordination, and onsite training; create and maintain MOPs/SOPs/EOPs
• Conduct monthly test runs and monitor EPMS, fuel/oil systems, batteries and battery charging systems
• Assist with integration and testing of UPS and ATS equipment
• Diagnose faults and coordinate emergency repairs to ensure uninterrupted backup power
• Maintain accurate service records, runtime logs, and DEQ reporting
• Collaborate with operations teams during tests, upgrades, and drills
• Ensure work adheres to local regulations and internal safety policies
