Are you an experienced facilities professional ready to take the next step in your data center career?

Do you have the technical expertise to maintain a mission-critical facility - and the leadership skills to build and develop a high-performing operations team?

An established mission-critical infrastructure organization is hiring a Data Center Facilities Manager in the Kansas City area. As the first key appointment within a growing facilities operations team, you’ll take ownership of the site, help shape its operational structure and play a central role in hiring the technicians who will support you.

This is an opportunity to lead from the front. You’ll serve as the senior on-site contact, overseeing uptime, critical infrastructure, maintenance, vendors, operational procedures and client delivery within an environment where your decisions will have a direct and visible impact.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Take ownership of the safe, reliable and efficient operation of a mission-critical data center
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for the client and key stakeholders
  • Help build, lead and develop the facilities operations team
  • Maintain uptime across critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure
  • Coordinate preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance
  • Manage incidents, technical escalations and emergency response
  • Oversee specialist vendors, contractors and service providers
  • Manage site access, security requirements and operational compliance
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure the facility remains audit-ready
  • Develop, review and implement SOPs, MOPs and EOPs
  • Support future infrastructure upgrades and evolving site requirements
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working within a data center or similarly critical 24/7 environment
  • Previous experience as a Data Center Facilities Manager, Critical Facilities Manager, Operations Manager or experienced Lead Technician
  • Strong knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure
  • Experience with UPS systems, generators, switchgear, electrical distribution, HVAC, chillers and fire-suppression systems
  • Proven experience managing maintenance activities, vendors, incidents and operational procedures
  • The ability to lead and develop technicians while remaining technically credible
  • Strong client-facing communication and relationship-management skills
  • A calm, solutions-focused approach to operational challenges and emergency situations
  • A degree or technical background in electrical engineering, facilities management or a related discipline is preferred
  • Electrical qualifications or licensing would be advantageous

Direct data center experience is preferred. However, strong facilities professionals from other mission-critical environments - including hospitals, semiconductor facilities, telecommunications infrastructure and military operations - are also encouraged to apply.

What’s on Offer
  • Base salary of approximately $120,000, dependent on experience
  • Company benefits package
  • Shared weekend on-call rotation, approximately one weekend in three
  • Potential relocation assistance for the right candidate
  • The opportunity to help build and shape a growing facilities operations team
  • Genuine ownership, autonomy and visibility within the organization

If you’re ready to take ownership of a critical facility, build a strong technical team and make a direct impact on operational performance, we want to hear from you.
