Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Data Center Engineering Technician to join our critical facilities team in Herndon, VA. You will perform hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance, support PMs, and help ensure mission-critical uptime for our global infrastructure.

You will work with engineers and operations staff across AWS data centers, with potential travel between sites and shifts including nights and weekends. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and efficient incident resolution.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
• 1+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience.
• High school or equivalent diploma.
• Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays.
• 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.

Responsibilities

• Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire safety equipment.
• Monitor BMS and EPMS systems.
• Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs.
• Perform rack installs and decommissioning within SLA.
• PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repairs on electrical/mechanical equipment.
• Technical writing to support change management.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors on-site per practices and regulations.
• Role may support multiple locations/sites.
• Shifts can be up to 12 hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule.
