Job summary

DV Trading is seeking a Data Center Engineer Intern in Chicago to support and optimize its data center facilities. You will work with servers, storage, networking equipment, and cabling, gaining hands-on experience in an active trading environment.

The role focuses on hardware deployment, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management, with an emphasis on reliability, redundancy, and operational risk management. Summer 2028 graduates encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Information Technology and expected to graduate by Summer 2028.
• Familiarity with HP, IBM, and Dell servers, SAN, and Cisco equipment.
• Familiarity with CAT5/6 and fiber optic cabling, as well as SFPs and other optic devices.
• Understanding of Windows and Linux server administration, including troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work onsite at our Chicago office 5 days per week.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Compensation Range: $40.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Learn how equipment moves from design and procurement through staging, installation, cabling, testing, and production deployment.
• Gain experience with rack layouts, structured cabling, fiber, copper, power distribution, labeling, and infrastructure standards.
• Work alongside senior engineers, deploying infrastructure that directly supports trading and business operations.
• Learn how datacenters are designed for reliability, redundancy, serviceability, and operational risk management.
• Assist with hardware troubleshooting, upgrades, inventory, logistics, and lifecycle management.

Role Overview

We are currently seeking a Data Center Engineer Intern to help maintain and optimize DV’s data center facilities. Throughout the summer internship, you'll have the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience with the physical infrastructure behind a global trading firm.

Responsibilities

• Work with enterprise servers, high-performance compute, storage, network equipment, racks, cabling, power, and datacenter infrastructure.
• Learn how equipment moves from design and procurement through staging, installation, cabling, testing, and production deployment.
• Gain experience with rack layouts, structured cabling, fiber, copper, power distribution, labeling, and infrastructure standards.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and expected to graduate by Summer 2028

Familiarity with HP, IBM, and Dell Servers, Blades, SAN, and Cisco equipment

Familiarity with CAT5/6 and fiber optic cabling, as well as SFP’s and other optic devices

Understanding of Windows and Linux server administration, including troubleshooting skills

Ability work onsite at our Chicago office 5 days per week

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail

Compensation Range: $40.00 per hour
