Job summary

SGI is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support large-scale data center projects across Northern Virginia. You will be involved throughout the commissioning lifecycle, working with construction, engineering, vendors and operations to ensure critical electrical infrastructure is tested, commissioned and handed over.

Requirements include data center commissioning experience, strong electrical skills, MV/LV systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs and IST/FAT/SAT

Qualifications

• Data center commissioning experience.
• Strong electrical engineering background.
• Experience with MV/LV electrical systems.
• Experience with UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs and power distribution.
• L1–L5 commissioning experience.
• FAT / SAT and functional testing.
• Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Commissioning documentation, scripts and reporting.
• Experience on hyperscale or large-scale data center projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the commissioning lifecycle for critical electrical infrastructure.
• Coordinate testing with construction, engineering, vendors and operations.
• Prepare and hand over commissioning documentation and reports.
• Support IST, FAT/SAT activities and final sign‑off for projects.

Data Center Commissioning Engineer – Electrical

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of large-scale mission-critical data center projects across Northern Virginia.

You’ll be involved throughout the commissioning lifecycle, working closely with construction, engineering, vendors and operations teams to ensure critical electrical infrastructure is successfully tested, commissioned and handed over.

What we're looking for

• Data center / mission-critical commissioning experience
• Strong electrical engineering background
• MV/LV electrical systems
• UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs and power distribution
• L1–L5 commissioning experience
• FAT / SAT and functional testing
• Integrated Systems Testing (IST)
• Commissioning documentation, scripts and reporting
• Experience working on hyperscale or large-scale data center projects
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills

Experience working with hyperscalers, data center operators, general contractors, commissioning consultancies or major MEP contractors would be particularly valuable.

The position is based in Northern Virginia and will support major data center developments across the Ashburn / Manassas area.
