Job summary

Proven Recruiting is seeking a Data Center Engineer for Santa Clara, CA or Northern VA. You will join the Data Center Engineering and Operations team to deploy and support infrastructure hardware.

You'll provision servers, switches, PDUs, and consoles; rack and cable; perform initial configurations per SOP; and troubleshoot hardware. You will maintain inventory and assist with decommissioning and RMAs, with occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of data center experience.
• BA/BS in IT, CS, or related field (or equivalent).
• Strong hands-on networking & fiber cabling knowledge.
• Experience with Linux command line basics.

What You'll Do

• Provide 100% hands-on support for data center infrastructure provisioning and server/network equipment deployments
• Rack, cable, and provision servers, switches, PDUs, and consoles, and perform initial system configuration per standard operating procedures
• Work hands-on with physical network infrastructure, including fiber cabling and optics
• Troubleshoot hardware issues, document findings, and provide detailed root cause analysis reports
• Maintain accurate hardware inventory and support decommissioning, RMA processing, and data center best practices

What You'll Need

• Strong hands-on experience with physical/Layer 1 networking: cabling standards (MMF, SMF, LC/MTP, CAT6), fiber connector types, and network optics
• Solid troubleshooting fundamentals for x86 server hardware, including BIOS/BMC configuration and CPU/RAM issues
• Basic working knowledge of Linux (navigating the command line, checking network interfaces, locating logs)
• Minimum 4 years of data center experience, including at least 2 years hands-on in an enterprise-scale environment
• BA/BS in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 75 lbs during periodic project work (carts, dollies, and a server lift are available)

What does this position pay?

Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and geographic location.

The expected range for this role is $64.00 to $73.00 per hour. Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.
