Our thirst for technology is a part of everything we do. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

Google is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer with demonstrated design, construction, equipment operation, and maintenance experience in complex mission-critical facilities. You will play a crucial role in developing intricate electrical systems, from incoming utility designs to in-rack power, for the large-scale data centers and multi-tenant facilities. This position involves project work from due diligence through construction and commissioning, evolving into sustaining support for the internal operations team.

You will be responsible for preparing various documents, including facility review checklists, audits, statements of work (SOW), total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses, concept design reviews, drawing reviews, budgets, schedules, and factory test and acceptance documents. Excellent communication skills, the ability to thrive in a matrix organization, fluency in design software, and strong electrical power system analysis skills are essential.

+ Manage power system issues throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design, detailed design, procurement, bidding, manufacturing, and delivery to on-site installation, ensuring alignment with Google's mission-critical facility requirements.

+ Understand and evaluate data center designs based on levels of redundancy, availability targets, and single points of failure (SPOFs), collaborate with internal teams regarding allowable power loading within multi-tenant facilities for rack deployment and load balancing.

+ Interface with the Third-Party Data Center Operations (3PDC-Ops), Energy and Land Strategy (ELS), and Front End Planning (FEP) teams to deliver robust electrical solutions for third-party data center projects.
