Job summary

Potomac Testing, Inc. in Lancaster, TX is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Field Service Technician to join our team supporting a large Data Center project. You will perform acceptance testing on electrical equipment, operate testing tools, and coordinate with customers to meet project timelines.

The role requires 3–5+ years in switchgear installation and testing, OSHA/NFPA 70E knowledge, and the ability to read schematics. Travel across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Expertise in switchgear maintenance, troubleshooting, and breaker installation.
• Strong electrical aptitude, understanding of power systems and problem-solving skills.
• Thorough understanding of LDL, L2, L3 inspections and testing procedures.
• Proficiency in secondary injection testing of breakers and PT/CT wiring installations.
• Familiarity with bus installations, meter configurations, and control wiring.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Hands-on experience with testing and maintenance tools (multimeters, megohmmeters, etc.).
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and providing technical support.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with daily reporting and documentation of work performed.
• Willingness to travel to various project sites within the U.S.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performing the necessary Acceptance Testing for electrical equipment within Data Center Facilities.
• Safely use hand and power tools, metering & testing equipment, and precision instruments.
• Collaborate with internal team members & customers/ end-users to complete projects within defined timelines.
• Follow safety protocols and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
