The Data Center Electrical Automation Engineer will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing automation systems for advanced data center electrical infrastructure. This position combines traditional electrical engineering with modern control systems, telemetry, and hardware prototyping. You will contribute to power systems analysis, automation frameworks, and next‑generation electrical designs, working at the intersection of IT and OT. The role requires hands‑on experience with PCB design, embedded programming, and integrated control systems, alongside collaboration with operations and software teams. The position offers a hybrid work environment in San Francisco or San Jose, with a focus on cutting‑edge AI data center infrastructure, professional growth, and technical innovation.
Accountabilities
- Perform power systems analysis including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and relay coordination studies
- Develop and implement electrical automation and control frameworks for data center operations
- Support the design and integration of new electrical systems, switchgear, and emerging prototypes
- Participate in site delivery, commissioning, and verification of one‑line diagrams and field plans
- Innovate hardware solutions through PCB design, embedded programming, and rapid prototyping
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on DCIM integration and automation strategies
- Engage in continuous professional development and mentorship to expand technical expertise
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- 4-6 years of experience in electrical engineering, including power system analysis, relay coordination, and protection logic
- Proficiency with electrical modeling software such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower
- Programming experience in Python, C, and assembly language
- Familiarity with KiCad, LTSpice, MATLAB, LabView, Fusion 360, and modern prototyping tools
- Hands‑on experience with oscilloscopes, DC supplies, logic analyzers, and LCR meters
- Strong problem‑solving, design instincts, and curiosity for automation and integrated control systems
- Progress toward or completion of Professional Engineering certification is a plus
- Preferred: experience with DCIM, BMS/controls integration, 800VDC or Solid‑State Transformer technologies, PLC automation languages, or PCB fabrication
