Meta is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Design Lead with experience in the design and construction of Critical Facilities to join our data center design team. Our data centers are essential for supporting Meta's software operations. The team collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure engineering and design considerations are incorporated from micro-levels (servers, IT equipment) to macro-levels (cooling, power distribution) for maximum efficiency and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead projects through all phases from concept to turnover as the Mechanical Engineering discipline lead for new builds and retrofits.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve issues, mitigate risks, and ensure safety, quality, and sustainability.
- Manage project contracts, review design deliverables, and oversee change proposals and invoices.
- Ensure performance and accountability of external teams and participate in project health reviews.
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively, incorporating lessons learned into current and future projects.
- Participate in testing, commissioning, and quality checks to ensure proper system installation and integration.
- Maintain clear communication and documentation across projects and teams.
- Provide technical oversight to meet owner requirements and standards for critical systems.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure integrated systems and technical alignment.
- Support onboarding and development of team members.
- Lead design, delivery, and quality meetings on-site.
- Innovate in design and construction processes.
- Work closely with the Quality Team on system checks and issue resolution.
- Support facilities engineering and operations with technical guidance throughout project lifecycle.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years in mission-critical building design, construction, or operations.
- Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and safety standards (e.g., UMC, NFPA, ASHRAE, LEED).
- Experience with design software such as Revit/BIM, Bluebeam, Autodesk/ACC.
- Knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with mission-critical facilities and large-scale projects.
- Data center or mission-critical design experience.
- LEED Accreditation.
