This role reviews and validates architectural, electrical, mechanical, and controls designs for constructability and code compliance, coordinates owner-furnished/contractor-installed (OFCI/CFCI) equipment from procurement through startup, and ensures that individual building systems come together as a single, well-integrated facility. The ideal candidate is comfortable reading engineering drawings and specifications in detail, tracking equipment and systems across multiple disciplines, and working closely with design engineers, general contractors, equipment vendors, and commissioning teams to catch integration gaps before they become field problems.

Position Summary

This role reviews and validates architectural, electrical, mechanical, and controls designs for constructability and code compliance, coordinates owner-furnished/contractor-installed (OFCI/CFCI) equipment from procurement through startup, and ensures that individual building systems come together as a single, well-integrated facility. The ideal candidate is comfortable reading engineering drawings and specifications in detail, tracking equipment and systems across multiple disciplines, and working closely with design engineers, general contractors, equipment vendors, and commissioning teams to catch integration gaps before they become field problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Review architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, and controls design packages for constructability, code compliance, and alignment with project design standards.
• Track design changes and technical submittals across disciplines, identifying conflicts or integration gaps between systems before they reach the field.
• Coordinate owner-furnished/contractor-installed (OFCI) and contractor-furnished/contractor-installed (CFCI) equipment from procurement and factory acceptance testing through delivery, installation, and startup.
• Validate that mechanical, electrical, and controls systems are designed and installed to interoperate correctly, including power distribution, cooling, BMS/DCIM, and life safety systems.
• Partner with design engineers and vendors to resolve technical issues surfaced during design review, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Support commissioning readiness by ensuring design documentation, equipment submittals, and as-built drawings are complete, accurate, and available to the commissioning team.
• Maintain a technical risk register and equipment tracking log; escalate design or integration risks to the Director of Design & Integration with recommended resolutions.
• Attend design review meetings, factory witness tests, and site coordination meetings as the technical point of contact for design intent.
• Collaborate with construction delivery, procurement, and operations teams to ensure a smooth handoff from design through installation to turnover.
• Maintain technical standards documentation and contribute lessons learned back into the design standards for future projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in data center or other mission-critical facility design, engineering, or systems integration.
• Strong working knowledge of data center MEP systems, including power distribution, UPS and generators, cooling plant, and building/controls systems.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical submittals for constructability and code compliance.
• Familiarity with OFCI/CFCI equipment coordination and factory acceptance testing (FAT) processes.
• Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as NEC, NFPA, and local building/electrical codes.
• Proficiency with design and project collaboration tools (e.g., Bluebeam, BIM 360, Procore) and strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical detail for both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional certification.
• Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center design programs across multiple sites or a campus-level program.
• Familiarity with commissioning (Cx) processes and DCIM/Building Management System platforms.
• Experience developing or maintaining design standards for a critical-facilities portfolio.
• Prior experience in a design-build or integrated project delivery (IPD) environment.

Work Environment

• Primarily hybrid/office-based, with regular travel to design review meetings, equipment factory witness tests, and active construction sites.
• Ability to safely navigate an active construction site, including required personal protective equipment (PPE), when conducting field reviews.
• Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods when reviewing drawings and preparing documentation.

Compensation & Benefits

Innomatrix offers a competitive base salary of $80,000 – 120,000, commensurate with experience, plus bonus and standard healthcare benefits.
