Job summary

Penguin Solutions Professional Services seeks a customer-facing engineer to plan, integrate, configure, deploy, and validate complex environments involving HPC, cloud, and enterprise systems. Work is performed at company and customer sites with limited on-site supervision to support successful deployments.

The role requires strong technical judgment, clear communication, and hands-on execution. Travel up to 60% domestically and internationally is anticipated, with base pay in the stated range

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience supporting data center, compute, network, or infrastructure deployments.
• Experience installing CAT6 and fiber cabling and building, configuring, or repairing compute servers.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues, evaluate available information, and select an appropriate course of action within established standards.
• Ability to work independently at customer sites, manage changing on-site conditions, and communicate decisions, risks, and status clearly.
• Familiarity with data center environments and safety practices.
• Familiarity with Linux preferred but not required.
• US citizenship required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 60%.

Responsibilities

• Assess customer site readiness, infrastructure requirements, and deployment risks, recommending actions to support successful implementations.
• Independently determine installation, configuration, testing, and validation approaches for deployments within established standards.
• Rack, cable, configure, deploy, and validate complex compute, storage, and networking systems in data center and customer environments.
• Analyze hardware, network, and system issues, and implement effective solutions.
• Adapt deployment activities to site conditions and customer requirements while ensuring safety and quality standards.
• Serve as the primary on-site technical resource for deployments, providing guidance and status updates.
• Coordinate deployment activities with customers, project managers, engineering teams, vendors, and support personnel to ensure success.
• Document assessments, configurations, decisions, test results, issues, and outcomes.
