Job summary

Equinix, Inc. is recruiting for a DoD SkillBridge Fellowship in Data Center Operations in San Jose. The program helps transitioning service members translate military experience into civilian careers in critical facilities.

You will learn to operate and maintain data center infrastructure, gain industry qualifications, and build a professional network. The role offers hands-on training with BMS, UPS, generators, and HVAC systems, plus opportunities to advance in a large digital infrastructure

Qualifications

• Technical associate's degree or military-technical school completion is required.
• Education level: working on a bachelor's degree or relevant experience in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of critical infrastructure (UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, life safety systems) required.
• HVAC design, heat transfer, and thermodynamics coursework preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC testing and balancing methodologies is desirable.
• Knowledge of IT hardware and data center operations functions required.
• Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and stay focused on long tasks.
• Strong communication of thoughts and technical ideas is essential.
• Initiative, enthusiasm, teamwork, and creativity are valued.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform facility maintenance tasks, including preventive and corrective checks on-site.
• Monitor and respond to Building Monitoring System (BMS) alarms and energy efficiency measures.
• Install, rack and stack data center equipment; perform fiber terminations and cross-connect work orders.
• Provide incident support; maintain logs, SOPs, and permits.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to resolve incidents and plan infrastructure projects.
