Job summary

Applied Digital is seeking a Data Center Controls Engineer - Operational SME to lead design, implementation, and optimization of control systems in our data centers. The role focuses on BMS, EPMS, automation, and reliability, with mentoring duties for junior staff.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and experience with hyperscale environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in data center operations, controls engineering, or similar role.
• Deep experience with BMS/EPMS and automation systems.
• Strong knowledge of networking, servers, cooling, and power distribution.
• Proficient in troubleshooting tools and automation scripting (e.g., Python).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain control systems for data center facilities (BMS/EPMS).
• Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and control system issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and vendors to optimize automation processes.
• Perform daily inspections, monitoring, and predictive maintenance of critical infrastructure.
• Provide SME guidance, mentorship, and training to junior staff.
• Manage projects from inception to completion, including upgrades and integrations.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and contribute to disaster recovery planning.
• Analyze system performance data and generate improvement reports.
