Job summary

Ascendion is hiring a Data Center Construction Manager to lead important infrastructure projects in South Hill, VA and Boydton, VA. The role is onsite five days a week, overseeing safety, quality, and schedule adherence for mission-critical facilities.

You will coordinate field teams, manage documentation, and participate in commissioning, with a focus on clear communication and risk mitigation to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to drive contractor performance with clear expectations and follow-up.
• Familiarity with data center commissioning processes and turnover practices.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily construction activities across project scope; ensure design standards, safety, and quality compliance.
• Monitor schedule progress; identify risks to milestones and propose mitigations.
• Coordinate field activities: look-ahead planning, site walks, progress verification.
• Support IST readiness through installation verification and field checks.
• Lead or participate in commissioning activities as required.
• Maintain detailed documentation: daily reports, photos, deficiency logs.

About the Role

• Job Title: Data Center Construction Manager
• Location: South Hill, VA OR Boydton, VA (Multiple headcounts)

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily construction activities across assigned project scope areas; ensure adherence to design standards, safety policies, and quality requirements.
• Monitor schedule progress; identify risk to critical‑path milestones and provide recommended mitigation plans.
• Manage field‑level coordination, including look‑ahead planning, site walks, and progress verification.
• Drive proactive issue identification, escalation, and resolution; ensure alignment with DCD change‑management processes.
• Review submittals, RFIs, method of procedures (MOPs), and work plans for accuracy, completeness, and safety/quality compliance.
• Support integrated systems testing (IST) readiness through installation verification, deficiency tracking, and completion of field checks.
• Lead or participate in commissioning activities as required.
• Maintain detailed documentation, including daily reports, photos, deficiency logs, and progress assessments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong understanding of mission-critical construction, with experience in civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to drive contractor performance and hold field teams accountable through clear expectations and consistent follow‑up.
• Familiarity with data center commissioning processes and turnover practices.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder‑management skill.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual [salary/hourly rate] for this position is between [$170,000 - 190,000 annually]. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
