Job summary

McKinstry in Spokane, WA is seeking an Account Executive to lead Data Center projects, guiding strategy and execution for large, complex initiatives. You’ll oversee project teams, manage budgets, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and drive scheduling, risk, and change control to ensure on-time delivery and client satisfaction.

This role requires five years of PM experience in construction, proficiency with MS Office and scheduling tools, and knowledge of building codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years in project management within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in MS Office, scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, SureTrak), and knowledge of SharePoint and codes.

Responsibilities

• Project Oversight & Team Leadership: Manage all project activities, assign teams, and be primary contact for industrial clients.
• Financial & Policy Management: Own project finances, reporting, and compliance with company policies.
• Stakeholder Communication & Coordination: Provide timely updates to stakeholders and coordinate cross‑department.
• Financial Operations: Oversee budgets, change orders, and monthly project accounting reviews.
• Project Management: Ensure on-schedule completion and monitor timelines and issue logs.
• Staff Development & Sales: Coach staff, manage field relations, and handle client project financials.

The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are expanding our Data Center Innovations division and are seeking an Account Executive to join our team in Spokane, WA. In this role, you will oversee large and complex projects, setting strategies and goals for successful project execution. Key responsibilities include:

• Project Oversight & Team Leadership: Manage all project activities and resources, define team assignments, and serve as the primary contact for industrial clients throughout project implementation.
• Financial & Policy Management: Take financial responsibility for projects, ensure accurate reporting, uphold company policies, and maintain compliance with guidelines.
• Stakeholder Communication & Coordination: Provide timely information to stakeholders, make decisions considering the impact on various departments, and ensure smooth cross-department coordination.
• Financial Operations: Facilitate timely invoice payments from clients, oversee pre-construction budgets, manage client and subcontractor change orders, and conduct monthly project accounting reviews.
• Project Management: Ensure projects are completed on schedule, monitor the change issue log, and manage project timelines effectively.
• Staff Development: Select, coach, and manage staff, fostering positive relationships with field personnel and craft foremen.
• Sales & Client Support: Manage a portion of annual sales, provide support to clients on project financials, and take ownership of assigned projects.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience, with a minimum of five (5) years in project management within the construction.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software (Microsoft Project, Primavera, Suretrak), and knowledge of SharePoint and codes.
• Preferred Qualifications: CPM professional designations, experience in low voltage systems (HVAC Controls, Fire Alarm, Security), and basic estimating skills.

The pay range for this position is $93,600 - $147,060 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
