Job summary

Prime Data Centers seeks a Commissioning (Cx) Program Engineer to own the commissioning lifecycle across regional projects from RFP to turnover. This owner’s-representative role on-site enforces standards and drives defect-free turnovers to Operations.

You will coordinate with design, construction, and third-party CxAs, manage budgets and schedules, and lead program-wide improvements. Travel up to 20% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering discipline or equivalent mission critical/data center experience
• 8+ years in commissioning, MEP engineering, or mission-critical construction, including 5+ years delivering data center projects
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects or commissioning teams
• Knowledge of L0–L5 commissioning lifecycle
• Strong expertise in mission-critical MEP systems (power, UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling, controls, life safety)
• Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
• Familiarity with ASHRAE, NEC/NFPA, and related standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to lead triage calls and present to leadership
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

• Enforce commissioning standards, templates, and processes
• Coordinate with leadership to refine standards
• Own and oversee L2–L5 commissioning lifecycle framework
• Ensure projects are scoped and executed properly
• Develop and execute contracts for Cx services including budgeting and scheduling
• Coordinate with Quality department to support assurance
• Travel to other campuses and Denver Office as needed
• Establish and track program KPIs and report to leadership
• Oversee testing of MEP systems and IST
• Provide oversight to project teams and vendors across multiple projects
• Integrate commissioning with design, procurement, and construction milestones
• Drive issue triage and root-cause analysis
• Select and manage third-party CxA providers
• Act as commissioning point of contact for teams and customers
• Coordinate with site Operations for handover and readiness
• Ensure auditable commissioning documentation and final Cx reports
• Own closeout and turnover packages with training and as-built docs
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost controls
• Contribute to strategic planning to scale the commissioning team
