Job summary

Switch is seeking a Data Center Structured Cabling Technician to support the daily operation and reliability of the data center network. You will install and test copper, fiber, and coax cabling, organize cable support systems, and handle hardware upgrades as part of a controlled, safety-focused workflow.

You will document outcomes, follow escalation procedures, and collaborate with teammates, customers, and vendors in a 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in telecom, data center operations, or IT support.
• Working knowledge of CAT 3/5/6 and single/multi-mode fiber.
• Familiar with ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards.
• Troubleshoot layer 1 connectivity and basic hardware issues.
• Experience using ticketing systems to document work.
• Willingness to work 24/7 scheduled shifts.
• Certified with CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+ (preferred).
• Proficiency with terminal tools such as PuTTY/SSH.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, label, and maintain copper, fiber, and coax cabling.
• Build and modify ladder racks, trays, J-hooks, and supports.
• Install/replace drives, memory, optics, and power components.
• Perform basic hardware setup and access via terminal tools.
• Test cabling and document results.
• Create and maintain design layout records of work.
• Respond to alerts, escalate when needed, document actions in tickets.
• Escort vendors and support on-site customer activities.
