Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Cable Technician to support data center and large-scale builds in Gallatin, TN. This hands-on role focuses on cabling installation, routing, and build-out of network closets in commercial environments.

The ideal candidate will have 1+ year of commercial cabling experience, familiarity with Cat5/Cat6, fiber optics, blueprints, and color codes, plus reliable transportation to job sites.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of commercial cabling experience.
• Structured cabling knowledge (Cat5/Cat6).
• Punch-downs and terminations.
• Cable installation and routing.
• Basic understanding of fiber optic cabling.
• Ability to read blueprints and project specs.
• Knowledge of communications color codes.
• Reliable transportation to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Install and route Cat5, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling.
• Pull and terminate cables, including 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
• Rack & stack installations and build out network closets.
• Install cable trays, conduit, and wireways in commercial environments.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
• Support data center builds indoors and outdoors.
• Use hand and power tools (drills, cutters, compression tools, etc.).
