Company Overview:

A leading renewable energy developer is seeking a Business Developer – Data Centers to expand its footprint in the fast-growing data center sector. With a strong portfolio of renewable energy projects and a commitment to sustainability, the company is focused on delivering innovative energy solutions to support the increasing power demands of data center operators.

Job Summary:

The Business Developer – Data Centers will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing renewable energy opportunities with hyperscale, enterprise, and colocation data center customers. This role requires a deep understanding of data center energy needs, power procurement strategies, and corporate sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies to secure power agreements with data center operators, including hyperscalers, enterprise customers, and colocation providers.
  • Identify and evaluate market opportunities to expand the company’s data center-focused renewable energy portfolio.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, including data center operators, utilities, consultants, and corporate sustainability teams.
  • Lead negotiations and structuring of power purchase agreements (PPAs), virtual PPAs (VPPAs), and other energy solutions tailored to data center customers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including development, finance, and regulatory affairs—to align project development with market needs.
  • Stay informed on market trends, regulatory policies, and emerging technologies impacting data center energy procurement.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings to enhance market presence and business development efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, energy, engineering, economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in energy markets, business development, or sales, with a focus on data center customers, corporate energy procurement, or utility-scale renewable energy.
  • Strong understanding of power procurement structures, including PPAs, VPPAs, and other energy contracting mechanisms.
  • Proven track record of closing complex energy deals and managing long sales cycles.
  • Excellent relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate regulatory frameworks and energy market dynamics affecting data center power procurement.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Location & Travel:

  • Flexible on location, with a preference for candidates in key data center markets.
  • Travel required for customer meetings, site visits, and industry events
