Job summary

Insight Global in Omaha, NE is seeking a Shift Lead for a leading global data center provider. The role maintains reliability of critical infrastructure in a 24/7 environment and leads a small shift team of 1–4 technicians.

The position requires extensive data center and building engineering experience, strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC systems, and proven leadership and customer service skills. This on-site role supports critical power and facility operations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of data center experience.
  • 5-10+ years of critical environment or building engineering experience.
  • Experience in operations, maintenance and/or building engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and critical infrastructure systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate 1–4 technicians during an assigned shift, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, cooling, life safety, and critical power systems.
  • Monitor and respond to facility alarms, prioritizing uptime and protection of the critical load.
  • Utilize CMMS to track preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, work orders, inspections, and labor activities.
  • Execute and follow SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, MMRs, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to complete maintenance and project work safely.
  • Serve as a customer‑facing point of contact for colocation clients and maintain accurate operational documentation.
  • Support equipment switching, operational improvements, root cause investigations, and infrastructure projects.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • 3+ years of data center experience
