Job Description:

At Cloudera, we empower people to transform complex data into clear and actionable insights. With as much data under management as the hyperscalers, we're the preferred data partner for the top companies in almost every industry. Powered by the relentless innovation of the open source community, Cloudera advances digital transformation for the world's largest enterprises.

We're looking for a highly motivated Data Center Administrator to serve as the hands-on presence in our Dallas colocation facility. In this role, you will be the sole administrator on-site, responsible for the physical health, maintenance, and lifecycle management of our data center infrastructure. You'll collaborate remotely with a globally distributed Infrastructure and Networking team and act as the local owner for a critical production environment.

This is a hands-on, independent role that requires both technical competence and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset. You'll be expected to take initiative, manage your own priorities, and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.

Work Schedule

  • Standard business hours, Monday-Friday, on-site

  • Occasional nights/weekends for planned maintenance or emergency support (comp time provided)

  • Participation in a rotating daytime-only on-call schedule

  • Occasional travel may be required for team meetings, training, or major upgrade projects at other data center locations or corporate offices (typically up to a few times per year)

As a Data Center Administrator you will:

  • Rack, stack, and cable servers, network gear, and related hardware

  • Swap disks, RAM, and other components as needed

  • Coordinate and perform upgrades, retrofits, and warranty repairs

  • Run and manage remote console tools (iDRAC/IPMI) for diagnostics and remote troubleshooting

  • Handle incoming/outgoing hardware shipments and maintain proper chain of custody

  • Act as primary point of contact for hardware issues and physical access needs

  • Triage and remediate hardware faults using vendor tools and diagnostics

  • Open and manage warranty support cases directly with hardware vendors

  • Coordinate and perform planned maintenance and emergency responses, occasionally outside business hours (comp time provided)

  • Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory and rack-level layout using DCIM tools

  • Ensure all systems are correctly labeled, tracked, and documented

  • Participate in a shared daytime-only on-call rotation for physical incident response

  • Maintain high standards around uptime, handling production equipment with appropriate care

  • Work closely with remote infrastructure engineers, network engineers, and application owners to support installs and changes

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the environment and suggest operational improvements

  • Grow your Linux skills by assisting with installs and basic diagnostics (e.g., running sar, reviewing logs)

  • Support imaging and build automation efforts; familiarity with PXE boot or automated provisioning is a plus

We're excited about you if you have:

  • Prior hands-on experience working in a data center or similar physical IT environment

  • Strong comfort level working independently in an on-site role with minimal direct supervision

  • Ability to safely and confidently rack servers, manage cabling, and perform part replacements

  • Experience using remote console tools (e.g., iDRAC, IPMI) and maintaining accurate hardware documentation

  • Comfortable participating in scheduled maintenance work outside business hours on occasion

  • Basic experience with Linux diagnostics or administration and an eagerness to grow in that area

  • Exposure to imaging or automated provisioning workflows (PXE, Kickstart, etc.)

  • Familiarity with hardware lifecycle support processes (RMA, vendor coordination)

  • Any relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Linux+, Security+, RHCSA/RHCE, hardware vendor certs, etc.) are a plus but not required

What you can expect from us:

  • Generous PTO Policy

  • Support work life balance with Unplugged Days

  • Flexible WFH Policy

  • Mental & Physical Wellness programs

  • Phone and Internet Reimbursement program

  • Access to Continued Career Development

  • Comprehensive Benefits and Competitive Packages

  • Paid Volunteer Time

  • Employee Resource Groups
