Description

We are seeking a Data Architect to design enterprise data architecture in a large-scale data environment for a government division that supports law enforcement, security, and intelligence partners with criminal justice information. The Data Architect will support the client's mission, adapt to organizational priorities, and deliver high-quality, mission-critical solutions.

The ideal candidate will:

• Engage in planning, defining, and designing data solutions, exploring alternatives, and evaluating new technologies.
• Develop and maintain scalable cloud-based data infrastructure, ensuring alignment with the organization's decentralized data management strategy.
• Design and implement ETL pipelines using AWS services (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation, Lambda) to support data domain requirements and analytics.
• Collaborate with data domain teams to design and deploy domain-specific data products, adhering to organizational standards for schema, data transformations, and storage.
• Establish and enforce data governance practices, including compliance with privacy, access controls, and lineage requirements.
• Maintain data catalog and governance tools, automating workflows to uphold data integrity and discoverability.
• Lead the implementation and support of data mesh architecture, ensuring seamless data flow across domains.
• Manage operations and maintenance of Data Mesh software, ensuring its availability and reliability.
• Provide guidance and leadership on adopting data mesh principles, including training data stewards and users.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align technical data architecture with business goals.
• Work collaboratively across teams to drive initiatives.
• Follow SAFe Agile principles, including iterative development and continuous delivery.
• Advance the client's ability to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
• Lead and mentor data engineering teams.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years designing and implementing data architectures in large-scale environments like data lakes, data warehouses, and data mesh frameworks.
• At least 5 years working with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Demonstrated 2 years leading and mentoring data engineering teams.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
• Secret clearance required.

Remote. Note: The client is based in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Equipment and badge requirements may necessitate travel to the client site.
