Job summary

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) in Houston is seeking a senior database architect to lead data strategy, design relational databases, data warehouses, and data models for enterprise applications. You will migrate data from legacy systems, enforce governance, and mentor junior staff while partnering with IT and business teams to deliver reliable data solutions.

Proficiency in Oracle 11g/SQL Server, ETL, Azure, SDLC, and data marts is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in data processing or equivalent from an accredited university.
• Typically requires 12 years of experience in database design and analysis and 6 years of experience in Oracle 11g or above.
• Experience in Enterprise Database development with at least 5 years of database design experience.
• Hands-on experience with ETL technologies.
• Knowledge of MSBI and Azure cloud exposure is a plus.
• Proficient in PL/SQL and Oracle DBA practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database.
• Design and build relational databases, conceptual and logical data models, and flowcharts.
• Develop Databases, Data Warehouses, and Multidimensional Databases.
• Develop a strategy for Data Archiving, MDM, Reporting, and analytical needs.
• Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions.
• Define and enforce organizational-level data strategy.
• Provide operational support for MIS.
• Mentor junior team members and peers in tools and systems.
• Develop database solutions by designing the proposed system, defining physical structure, security, backup, and recovery specs.
