Job summary

SBM Offshore is seeking a Data Engineer to design, evolve, and govern data architecture for our internal application systems and BI solutions. This role will own operational database architecture, develop scalable data models and pipelines, and guide the move of appropriate data assets into a data warehouse.

You will work closely with the Integrations Engineer and other tech teams to ensure alignment of data, analytics, and reporting needs, while partnering on batch and event-driven data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, statistics, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, database engineering, data architecture, BI engineering, or related discipline.
• Advanced experience designing relational data models and writing, reviewing, and tuning complex SQL queries for production workloads.
• Strong experience using Python to develop data pipelines, automation, validation, and tooling.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and relational DB architecture; familiarity with SQL Server/Redshift is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the data architecture and implementation approach for internal app systems and BI solutions.
• Define target-state architecture and migration roadmap for databases and data warehouse.
• Design, build, test, document, and monitor data pipelines using SQL, PostgreSQL, and Python.
• Advise stakeholders on database, data-modeling, pipeline, and platform decisions; improve self-service reporting.
