Job summary

Slalom is seeking a Data Architect to join our Data Architecture & Engineering team in Washington, DC. You will design and evolve data architectures for client environments, contribute to building data pipelines, and guide technical decisions while staying hands-on in engineering work.

You'll work with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, shaping next-generation data platforms for forward-thinking organizations, with opportunities to lead solution design, pre-sales support, and AI-accelerated data

Qualifications

• Hands-on data engineer with production-grade data solutions experience.
• Strong data architecture experience, scalable data platforms design and implementation guidance.
• Experience with modern cloud data ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP) and data warehousing technologies.
• Ability to operate in client-facing environments translating business and technical requirements into data architecture solutions.
• Balance architectural leadership with hands-on engineering contributions.
• Exposure to AI-accelerated data engineering using generative/AI-enabled tools.
• Willingness to start engagements in engineering and grow into deeper architectural ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve data architectures for client environments with scalable solutions.
• Contribute directly to building, coding, and implementing data pipelines and platforms.
• Guide technical direction while actively participating in day-to-day engineering work.
• Collaborate with clients to translate requirements into data engineering and architecture outcomes.
• Lead and contribute to solution design and technical discovery, including pre-sales support where applicable.
• Build and design solutions on modern cloud data platforms across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
