Job summary

TerraPower is seeking a senior data engineering leader to guide a team of data engineers, DBAs, and BI developers in Bellevue, WA. You will balance workloads, remove blockers, and align data initiatives with business priorities to enable trusted analytics across the organization.

The role requires 5+ years in data engineering/BI with 2+ years of leadership, a self-directed mindset, and a passion for developing people and growing curiosity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in data engineering.
• 5+ years in data engineering/BI, including 2+ years leading technical teams.
• Self-directed with ability to build your own playbook.
• Strong instincts for developing people, not just projects.
• Comfortable operating with autonomy and reporting outcomes.
• Curious by nature, energized by growing others' curiosity.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage and support a team of data engineers, DBAs and BI developers, including workload balancing and performance conversations.
• Act as the first point of escalation for blockers, cross-team dependencies, and prioritization conflicts.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate data and reporting needs into team priorities.
• Enable and guide the team to build data integration, database management, data lifecycle, data quality, and master data management.
• Evolve data pipeline architecture standards, data stack and BI tooling strategy with the Data Architect and senior ICs.
• Own hiring, onboarding, and team structure decisions for your group.
• Shield the team from noise and churn to enable high-quality work.
• Represent the data management function in leadership discussions with input from the team.
