Job summary

Staff Management Group - Passaic is seeking a Lead Data Analyst to design data models, build dashboards, and own the analytics SDLC. The role requires expertise in SQL databases, BI tools, and ETL across multiple data sources.

The successful candidate will mentor junior analysts, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and apply Agile practices to deliver analytics solutions that drive strategic decisions. Onsite in Passaic, NJ.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Analyst with demonstrated expertise in SQL databases.
• Strong proficiency with data visualization tools including Tableau, Power BI, Looker or equivalent platforms.
• SDLC processes and experience applying software development lifecycle analysis to analytics projects.
• Technical skills in R, Python, VBA, Bash (Unix shell scripting), and Talend or similar ETL tools.
• Expertise in database design and query management to optimize performance across large datasets.
• Familiarity with BI concepts such as dashboard development and reporting automation.
• Ability to interpret complex datasets into clear insights for business stakeholders.
• Knowledge of linked data principles and integration of diverse data sources.
• Strong project management skills in an Agile framework.
• Effective communication for requirements analysis and translating findings into recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data models aligned to business needs and database design best practices.
• Build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports to visualize key metrics using Tableau, Power BI, Looker, and similar platforms.
• Own the analytics SDLC from requirements gathering through deployment and maintenance.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specs and actionable insights.
• Oversee ETL workflows to integrate data from multiple sources including SQL databases, Oracle, Talend, and Bash scripts.
• Perform advanced data analysis using R, Python, and Excel to identify trends and opportunities.
• Lead business intelligence efforts by developing dashboards and reports that support planning and efficiency.
• Mentor junior analysts on SQL query management and data visualization best practices.
• Apply Agile project management to coordinate analytics initiatives.
• Promote linked data management and integration of diverse datasets for comprehensive analysis.
