Job summary

MetLife is seeking a METx Data & Analytics undergraduate intern in Cary, NC to work on real projects with experienced data professionals. You will contribute to data pipelines, analytics, and governance while learning through mentorship and hands-on experiences.

Responsibilities include building dashboards, applying AI concepts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The program runs for ten weeks with a hybrid in-person schedule and an hourly compensation model.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or post-secondary training in Data Science, Business Analytics, AI, CS, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, MIS, or related field.
• Expected graduation date no later than June 2029.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to identify patterns and insights from data.
• Coursework or experience with at least one programming language or analytics tool (Python, SQL, Scala, C#, C++).
• Ability to analyze, ingest, and organize raw data and perform data transformation for modeling.
• Knowledge of or experience using AI models, integrating AI-enabled solutions into business or technical workflows.
• Desire to learn new technologies, tools, and business processes.
• Strong communication and critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a growth mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist on meaningful projects impacting millions of customers and receive mentorship from skilled data experts.
• Contribute to data engineering and pipeline automation using Azure and Databricks.
• Develop machine learning models to predict customer behavior and other outcomes.
• Brainstorm GenAI and Agentic AI solutions to improve operations.
• Develop and test analytics solutions, including writing Databricks notebooks.
• Analyze and document business processes to support data-driven projects.
• Build dashboards and reports to visualize key metrics.
• Provide production support and help resolve data-related incidents.
• Document key data assets and support governance for transparency and compliance.
• Collaborate across cross-functional teams on strategic initiatives.
