Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Software Engineer 1 for the Kiewit Technology Group in Omaha, NE to architect and deliver enterprise-grade data and analytics solutions.

You'll build scalable data platforms, create high-performance Power BI models, and explore AI-enabled tools to drive productivity and insight across our technology teams. This on-site role emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders and mentorship of teammates while delivering reliable data solutions.

Qualifications

• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL expertise with performance tuning.
• Strong Python skills for data engineering and analytics development.
• Experience building enterprise-scale Power BI datasets and semantic models.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Familiarity with Azure data technologies (Databricks, Data Factory).
• Solid understanding of ETL/ELT, data modeling, and data warehousing principles.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Power BI datasets, semantic models, and analytics solutions.
• Create high-performance data models and DAX calculations to support business reporting.
• Implement advanced Power BI capabilities, including incremental refresh and aggregations.
• Optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain data and analytics platforms.
• Develop AI-enabled solutions using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Claude, and other approved technologies.
• Mentor team members and contribute to technical best practices.
