Job summary

MetLife Legal Plans is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Data Insights team, reporting to the Senior Director of Data Insights. You will design and build data models, pipelines, and analytics solutions using DBT Cloud, AWS, Python, and SQL to modernize and scale our data platform.

You will partner with Data Analysts and business stakeholders to transform complex data into trusted insights that inform data-driven decisions across the organization, and you will contribute to data governance and

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data engineering.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience using DBT Cloud.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Bash, and experience with Spark.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Glue, and Redshift.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling and schema design.
• 1+ years of experience with workflow management tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
• Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Model and build data structures using DBT Cloud to modernize our data platform
• Utilize DBT Cloud to transform raw data into business focus, semantic layer for data analysis and insights
• Work with Data Analysts to design data models and data structures to empower self-service analytics
• Data analysis, such as research into data issues and communication of findings
• Building data driven solutions to business problems and opportunities
• Business process optimization and defining core business logic
• Ensuring data security is enforced within data models and data structures
