Job Title: Senior Business Data Analyst

This position is the most senior role within the business-data analyst job family and is responsible for partnering with senior business leaders to provide consultancy in envisioning and executing strategic business initiatives. The role involves translating these initiatives into the design and delivery of business intelligence solutions and formulating viable options for key business decisions. The incumbent also reviews the work of junior analysts, leads projects, and handles complex analysis.

This role is characterized by providing consultancy and leading the delivery of business intelligence solutions. This will be achieved through expert knowledge of supported business areas, well-developed consultancy skills, and mastery of data analytics—from descriptive to prescriptive analytics.

Across any deployed business area, the incumbent independently consults with senior leaders and support partners, effectively collaborating with stakeholders, coordinating data professionals, advising on business decisions, and initiating analytical solutions.

Depending on the business area, specialized knowledge and experience may be required.

Responsibilities:
  1. Consult with senior leaders to understand strategic initiatives, business problems, and solution intents. Identify key data points and analytical approaches to demonstrate value.
  2. Develop and deliver actionable statistical analyses to provide insights to leadership.
  3. Support data analysts by providing technical guidance, coaching, and review of their work.
  4. Lead the development of data and analytical capabilities, sourcing, developing, and delivering content, as well as mentoring analysts.
  5. Design and build management information solutions, including reports, dashboards (Power BI, Tableau), and data-driven models. Collaborate with technical SMEs to operationalize recurring jobs.
  6. Develop forecasts, predictive models, and prescriptive analytics to inform scenario planning. Ensure models comply with governance policies.
  7. Prepare complex descriptive and diagnostic analyses and visualizations, communicate findings clearly, and recommend actions.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., mathematics, statistics, data analytics, finance, computer science, MIS, business administration).
  • At least 5 years of professional data analytics experience working closely with business leaders.
  • Proven mastery in descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
  • Business-specific experience may be required depending on the role's focus.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of business analytics technologies, techniques, and practices for performance evaluation and reporting.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, communication, and consultation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise in SQL or similar tools, with strong data management skills.
  • Proficiency with Tableau and Power BI.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, Jira, and other relevant tools.
