Job summary

Mercor is seeking Data Analysts & Spreadsheet Specialists to join a remote, contract role requiring 10–20 hours per week. You will own a MacBook and use Excel/Numbers/Sheets to produce high-quality training data for AI models, with emphasis on data cleaning, pivot tables, and lookups.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience or current enrollment in a postgraduate program in a quantitative field.
• Ownership of a MacBook or Mac with Apple Silicon or Intel processor, running macOS 15 or higher.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Numbers, and/or Google Sheets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete and narrate real data analysis and spreadsheet tasks on your Mac to create high-quality training data for AI models.
• Utilize pivot tables, lookups, charts, data cleaning, and financial or operational models in Excel/Numbers/Sheets.
• Benchmark and improve cutting-edge AI models through independent work.
• Provide clear explanations of your reasoning while enhancing model outputs.
• Maintain a structured approach with a balanced workload.

Position: Data Analysts & Spreadsheet Specialists (Must own MacBook)

Type: Contract

Compensation: $50–$60/hour

Location: Remote

Commitment: 10–20 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Complete and narrate real data analysis and spreadsheet tasks on your Mac to create high-quality training data for advanced AI models .
• Utilize advanced proficiency in Excel , Numbers , and/or Google Sheets for pivot tables, lookups, charts, data cleaning, and financial or operational models.
• Work independently to benchmark and improve cutting-edge AI models .
• Provide clear explanations of your reasoning while working to enhance model outputs.
• Maintain a structured approach to responsibilities without the high pressure of internships or full-time consulting roles.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• 2–3 years of experience or current enrollment in a postgraduate program in a quantitative field.
• Ownership of a MacBook or Mac with an Apple M-series chip or Intel processor , running macOS 15 or higher.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel , Numbers , and/or Google Sheets .
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience with SQL , Python/R , or BI tools like Tableau or Power BI .
