Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Data Analyst Logistics - Pharmacy to maintain and analyze databases for automated dispensing systems and other pharmacy technologies. You will manage staff training and troubleshoot hardware/software issues related to dispensing systems.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree or CPhT-Adv, NYS Pharmacy Technician License, and 2-3 years of hospital pharmacy automation experience. Strong communication and coordination with IT are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) required.
  • New York State Pharmacy Technician License required.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • 2-3 years hospital pharmacy experience with automation systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, updates, and maintains automated dispensing databases in coordination with Epic.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains automated dispensing systems user databases per policies.
  • Monitors controlled substances for possible diversion.
  • Develop programs/workflows to maximize dispensing efficiency; train staff and monitor compliance.
  • Reviews dispensing system restock requests and interfaces with wholesalers.
  • Analyzes information and trains staff to meet department goals.
  • Coordinates with Omnicell Site Administrator and NYU IT for maintenance.
  • Generates reports on medication use and discrepancies for management action.
  • Assists in maintaining databases for other pharmacy systems.
  • Reports to Manager, Pharmacy Informatics and Operations.

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Data Analyst Logistics - Pharmacy - Full Time - Pharmacy - - Flexible 7.5 hours including potential.

In this role, the successful candidate The Logistics Analyst is responsible for the maintenance and analysis of databases of automated dispensing machines and other automated devices. In addition, the Logistics Analyst manages staff, through necessary training, and troubleshoots hardware/software related issues as they pertain to the use of the automated dispensing systems and other pharmacy technologies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Creates, updates, and maintains automated dispensing systems departmental drug databases in coordination with Epic.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains automated dispensing systems user databases in coordination with staffing and departmental/interdepartmental policies.
  • Monitors controlled substance circulation and other designated non-controlled medications for possible diversion.
  • Develop programs and design workflows to maximize efficiencies of the automated dispensing process. Implement these programs/workflows with training modules and subsequent monitoring for compliance/optimization.
  • Reviews, monitors, and adjusts daily automated systems pharmaceutical restock requests to pharmacy wholesaler ordering systems. This includes updating databases and system pars depending on medication availability/utilization.
  • Analyzes information, distributes information/resources, and trains/monitors Pharmacy staff and other inter-departmental staff to facilitate accomplishing departmental goals
  • Coordination with the Omnicell Site Administrator and NYU IT resources for all necessary maintenance and implementations.
  • Generate reports and trends of use of medications, from Automated Dispensing Machines including discrepancy reports, and forwards reports to the appropriate manager(s) for appropriate action/ follow-up when issues are identified.
  • Assists in the maintenance of databases for other pharmacy related systems including but not limited to Packaging devices, inventory control devices, RFID devices and bar code generation programs.
  • Assists in other areas of the operation of the Department of Pharmacy as appropriate and as directed.
  • Reports to the Manager, Pharmacy Informatics and Operations and oversees informatics processes in their absence.
Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in related field OR Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT-Adv)

New York State Pharmacy Technician License

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

2-3 years experience in a hospital pharmacy or equivalent pharmacy experience with two or more automation systems.

Required Licenses

Cert Pharmacy Technician.

Preferred Licenses

Registered NYS Pharmacy Tech

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced certification or training in the management of SQL databases.

Certification or advanced systems training of at least one pharmacy system and 1-2 years of systems implementation/system management experience

The salary range for the role is $59,800.80 - $82,524.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
