Job summary

Western Alliance Bank is seeking a Data Analyst – LFI for its Data Governance team in CityScape, Phoenix. You will prepare for Large Financial Institution status by gathering, analyzing, and reporting key data, becoming a Reg YY SME, and collaborating across teams to implement data solutions.

The role emphasizes data accuracy, UAT, and continuous process improvement with heavy emphasis on FR 2052a, FR Y-14, and FR Y-15 compliance. Strong analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis or similar role.
  • 2+ years using data analysis tools (SQL, Excel) and visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with project management and prioritizing multiple deliverables.
  • Willingness to learn Reg YY and related regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of banking operations and applicable regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop business requirements to support LFI readiness per FRB rules for a Category IV institution.
  • Provide input into Technology deliverables to ensure successful implementation.
  • Perform UAT to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Lead or participate in workshops to clarify requirements and resolve defects.
  • Understand FR 2052a, FR Y-14, FR Y-15 and reflect changes in business documents.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of reports delivered to internal stakeholders.
  • Update and optimize reporting processes for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analyze datasets to identify trends and insights for improvement.

What You’ll Need
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Technology, or another related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, or a similar role.
  • 2 year experience working with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and be proficient in handling and interpreting large datasets.
  • Experience with project management and managing multiple priorities and deliverables.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learning applicable regulatory regulations with significant effort learning Reg YY (e.g. FR 2052a, FR Y-14, FR Y-15)
  • Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to advanced written and verbal communication skills.
